Today, I actually, truly did academic work. I had a class this morning then headed to the library to finish a design project due Thursday. Then I headed back to the flat and ate lunch. Sandwiches again. I had class in Central at 2:30pm until 5:30pm. It's the module for my internship and it's completely pointless. It would be so much more worthwhile for me to be at the office and actually learn something. It's just one of those formalities that I have to do.
After class, I went to dinner with some friends at "Gourmet Burger Kitchen." It was delicious. I ordered the Mexican Burger. It was enormous and so full of flavor, topped with all the dressings I love: avocado, tomato, mayo, onion lettuce and beans. So many things I eat here all taste the same. British food has almost no preservatives like in America, and it's been troublesome finding really good food. And "good" to me means tastes good, which probably means unhealthy. Also, delicious Mexican food is nearly impossible to find here, which is a big issue for me. This burger was a good substitute.
We applied for a discount card so our meal was 50% off which is excellent. London is so expensive but there really are lots of ways to save money, especially if you are a student. Christine found this website that offers FREE theatre tickets to students. We have to check that out.
After dinner, we rode the tube to Tower Bridge and just walked around in that area. It was gorgeous because it was lit up. So many people were out walking and jogging. Whenever I see these beauitiful, typical London sights, I am still in awe that I am actually living here. I wanted to study abroad for so long it's hard to grasp that this dream is actually coming true for me.
A couple nights ago, I booked a trip to visit my roommate from Butler in ITALY! She is studying in a small town just outside of Rome. I can not wait to see her! It's going to be a great couple of days. I am leaving this Friday afternoon and will be there until Sunday afternoon. I'm flying into Rome and going to visit another friend who is living in Rome for the semester. I can't wait to be back in Italy and spend time with great friends!
ciao Lauren! I loved your pictures, I can't believe how much London has changed in just 2 deccades!! The glass tube entrence is alot like one in a pyramid shape at the underground stop in Paris. In your blog you said it would be fun to see Italy AGAIN,have you been there before? I lived in Vicenza from 2000 till 2004,it's between Verona and Venice. Have fun this weekend, ciao! Denny
ReplyDeletePyramid shape...are you talking about the entrance to the Louvre? You have to literally walk into a class pyramid to get inside the museum. I think that is newly renovated as well though. I went to Rome and Florence this summer for a study abroad trip with my university. I will be traveling to a much less touristy city a coupel hours from Rome. I can not wait to get there!
