Day 1 as a Londoner

It's here. This is actually happening. Just a little bit ago, I was roaming the streets of London. How incredible! We arrived at Heathrow sometime between 9am and 10am London time. Not really sure when exactly. Once we landed we had to go through customs and show all sorts of ID, blah, blah, blah. Once we got out the Heathrow, I think I feel in love. It took us over an hour (again, my time perception is very off right now) to get to our hotel, St. Giles. It is in central London on the West End. There is lots of construction in this area.

I've already met so many people. In the airport last night was pretty overwelming. I'm just not good at being super bubbly and outgoing when I first meet people so that was a difficult situation. Now that we are broken up into smaller groups, it's been a lot easier to find "my people."  For the last two hours, a new friend, Christine (she's from Jersey but goes to school in San Diego) and I walked the streets of London. We didn't look at a map until we wanted to head back to the hotel. It was pretty cool to just be spontaneous and just sort of go. Now we are sitting at a McDonald's a few blocks from our hotel. Also, I should say this is a triple story McDonalds (they don't make 'em like that in the States!) using the free WiFi. We also walked around looking to purchase phones. We found a few deals that seem too good to be true. We'll see. Tonight the entire IFSA-Butler (the study abroad program) are going to dinner together. The meal is provided with our program fee. We are also staying in a hotel for a few nights. That was news to me when I was on the plane, but still very cool. We have IFSA-Butler orientation for a couple days with only Americans. Starting after that we will have orientation at the University of Westminster with people from around the world! Amazing!

That's all for now. I couldn't get internet access at Newark so I couldn't upload photos. Soon enough it will happen!

I live in London. My life is Awesome.
